Style and Design
A tradtional pentagonal design very similar to the Gudrum Melanie but with a lower pitched roof, particularly suitable where headroom may be restricted or the higher roof intrusive. The Melena - which is also marketed as a "low" Melanie - features large double opening side windows and double doors all fully glazed for a bright and airy feel.
The Melena is constructed in substantial 28mm Nordic pine log cladding with a 17mm tongue and groove floor and 16mm boarded roof. The design includes storm bracing for strength and safety and 45 x 45mm floor joists, pressure treated for durability. For security the doors are fitted with a cylindrical key operated lock.
The height of the building is 2.07m (6'9'') at the eaves rising to 2.45m (8') at the highest point of the roof. The double door opening is a commodious 1.9m (6'3'') high by 1.24m (4'1'') wide. The footprint is 2.8 x 2.8mm (9'2'' x 9'2''). When measuring the available space allowance should be made for the 30cm (12'') roof overhang.
The Melena is delivered untreated leaving a finish to be applied to the purchaser's preference at the time of construction.
The roof covering is optional at an additional charge. A choice is available between bitumen felt and green or black bitumen roof shingles.
The Melena is delivered ready for assembly and treatment/finishing with an appropriate good quality wood preservative.
